Google Webmaster Tools Overview

Google Webmaster Tools Overview

I made three other videos about specific features of Webmaster Tools but never did a quick overview video.

I should have started with showing you where the “on” button is, speaking figuratively of course.

So here is a short video about some of the basic features available to you.

It takes you through the left hand sidebar and shows you what tools are useful in helping you tune your site for maximum user friendliness and efficiency.

None of this is going to guarantee instant ranking. authority or page rank. But it will help in establishing that you know what your are doing online and over the long term, get you good results with your user base.

Take a look and don’t forget to “Google+’,”Like”,”Tweet”, “Pin”,”Tumble” or whatever else you use in Social media.

Thanks for your support and stay with it.

How To Use Data HighlLighter In Webmaster Tools

How To Use Data HighlLighter

Webmaster tools is a resource you are provided for free.

So why not learn to use it?

One feature that comes in real handy is Data Highlighter.

What it does is allow you to identify your content so that the search engine bot can parse what your content is about to the new database management process that defines Google Semantic Search.

It means that Google will have an easier time matching your content not only with keywords directly related to your title, url, headings or links but also to related terms that users may write that can connect them with your information.

What Data Highlighter does is match your information with Schema defined terms that will make the semantic process easier to interpret your content.

The tool allow you to define key elements of your article or information to the schema defined terms the search engine needs to parse out the date to the correct index.

So take a look at the video and I think the visuals will make all this giberish I just wrote more understandable.

None of this is going to necessarily directly result in higher ranking or increase your authority or anything like that. Only your content and your relationship with your audience will do that over time.

But it will increase your chances of connecting to people who stand to benefit from your knowledge and that will increase your ranking and authority.

So have a look at the video and as always, give it a plug:”Google+,”Like”,”Tweet”,”Pin”,”Stumble” or whatever.

Many thanks for your support. Stay well, stay with it, talk soon.

Webmaster Tools: 404 Redirection – Setting up 301 Redirects

Webmaster Tools: 404 Redirection

There is a great way to fix the pages on your site that have 404 errors.

The first thing you have to do is find out which pages lead to 404 errors and the best way to do that is to use your Google Webmaster tools.

While it does not do much for page rank or anything like that, fixing a web page that leads nowhere does contribute to a better user experience.

And we all know how important that is to Google and everyone involved!

So the first thing you do is log into your Webmaster Tools account and go to the main dashboard.

In the left hand sidebar, Click the Crawl link to display the dropdown menu and select t he link for Crawl errors and click it.

This will display the Current Status page and all the relevant information will be ready for you to see.

From here you can select to see the pages with 404 errors on your site, your mobile device and more.

Once you know what the pages are to be redirected, you want to go to your WordPress site and add the plugin “Redirections”.

When you activate it you will see it offers a tool that sets up the process to put the url for the page with the 404 error in one field.

And then also has a target field for the destination url to which you will send the redirect.

All this is easy to learn by watching the video, so go have a look and you will be ready to do your 404 repairs in a matter of minutes.

As always give the this information a “Like”,”Google +”,”Tweet”,”Pin”,”Stumble” or whatever your favorite social media choice is.

Many thanks and Stay well.

How To Add Your Site To Webmaster Tools

Webmaster Tools – Adding Your Site

I know when I looked at the Webmaster tools for the very first time. I was totally intimidated.

The interface, the data, all the mumbo jumbo that I had to figure out was too much.

So for a long time I just ignored it and spent my time trying to learn Google Analytics.

That in itself was a bear so I wasn’t about to add to the misery.

Well time has passed and Google Analytics has gone “not provided” so it is time to get over it and learn how to use the Webmaster tools.

Step one is how to find it. Step two is how to add a site.

Well this first of a series video does just that.

So have a look and in a matter of minutes you will have your site up and ready to receive data.

Aa always, give me a social thumbs up if you find the information useful: “Google+”,”Like”,”Tweet”, “Pin”,”Stumble” take your pick.

How To Find Your YouTube Inbox – The Community Tab

YouTube Inbox – The Community Tab

Well it’s happened once again. The YouTube inbox moved.

I went to find my inbox and respond to a viewer request and bingo…I couldn’t find it.

A viewer had commented that the inbox had disappeared and my video was not up to date.

So I went on the hunt, and after going through all the tabs, found it had been put under the Community Tab.

Take a look at the video and that should clear up the matter … for the time being.

Hope this helps and as always don’t forget to share, “like”, “tweet”,”pin”,Stumble”,”Google+” or whatever your social preference is.

Many thanks and stay with it.

How To Find Your Google Dashboard

The Google Dashboard

So I go online and click on my profile thumbnail expecting to find the products link to take me to my Google dashboard.

And guess what. I click the thumbnail and end up at my Google + profile.

Now I know the big kahunas want everyone on Google +, but it is a pain when your entrenched habit gets eliminated.

Just like that, no warning.

Anyway I was trying to figure out where to find where to go to get to the dashboard and had the “duh” moment.

I went and entered the /dashboard extension to the Google url and there I was.

I had already logged into my Google account so I was half way there.

I made this video to demonstrate, so take it in as a learning experience.

Hope this helps and don’t forget to give it a “Tweet”,”Like”,”Google + or Google share”, “Pin”, “Stumble” or whatever.

Thank you for your support. Stay well.

iMovie Tutorial – How To Use iMovie User Interface

iMovie User Interface

The iMovie user interface can be confusing when you first see it.

So I made this video to break down the different quadrants and what function they perform.

You’ll see that you have your top 2 navigation bars that I show you in the first video tutorial of this series.

Then you have the left hand side bar where you can move to the different options within iMovie.

If you are editing the sidebar will offer certain features in the bottom left that enhance your editing.

And then you have your browser area, your display screen in the upper portion of the iMovie interface and finally your editing area in the bottom half of the screen where you timeline and clips display for editing.

This is also the same area where photos, events, projects and libraries will display their content when selected.

Anyway the video makes this easier to understand so have a look and enjoy.

If you find the information helpful, please “Like”,”Google+”, “Tweet”, “Pin”, “Stumble” or whatever.

Many thanks for your support.
