When you sign up with a Web host service provider, you will find yourself most likely coming to a page called the cPanel.

The control panel looks like a glob of icons at first, but if you take the time you can figure out what it all means.

cPanel Page

The page consists of two columns. The left hand column is a sidebar that gives you information about your account. There is a search box at the top, then a most visited or used box underneath that, followed by a list of all the data that pertains to the account. This sidebar gives you a quick reference view of what is going on in the account.

The second column is the wide area filled with panels. Each panel aggregates icons that perform a function in the management of your account.

There is a lot to take in and you have to take your time when getting started to see what all this means for you.

The first place to start is the preference panel because that is where you will find information that will show you how to use cPanel. There is a get started icon and a video tutorial icon that can get you information about how to work with cPanel.

cPanel Sections

The next most useful panels are the Mail panel, the Files panel, the Domains panel and the Software/Services panel. These are the work areas where you will spend most of your time when you work with your web site creation and management, so those are the ones you should get familiar with.

Take a look at the video on cPanel Intro to get a quick rundown on how to figure out the cPanel layout and that should help you get started.

With an understanding of how the cPanel works, you will be on your way to setting up web sites and managing them to profitability.

Stay with it, stay well and May Your Travels Be Prosperous
