How to Use the Software Services Panel
The Software Services panel is an important one to know about for the beginner because it holds the software you need to create web sites and blogs.
In the configuration I have on my host, there are 2 icons I would consider. The other icons all refer to programming languages that I do not know or write so I don’t worry about them.
QuickInstall
The QuickInstall icon offers a software package that makes it easy to set up all sorts of programs. The one of most interest for beginners is the Blog Software tab. This is the section that offers 5 different type of blog platforms to choose from. Wordpress is one of them and that is the one I recommend for its ease of use and its current popularity with the search engines.
There are all sorts of different tabs offering chat, cms, photo, forum and more types of tools to set up. The best thing to do is go in and test some of them and see what they can offer.
The only thing about QuickInstall is that it is in beta so there could be some bugs that have to be worked out as of this point in time.
Fantastico Plus
Fantastico Plus offers the same kind of service as QuickInstall only it has been around longer and is a well established platform. It has a sidebar configuration that offers all sorts of services including blogging software for WordPress.
That is where you should start when setting up your web sites and follow the process of setting up your WP site.
All the other icons in the panel refer to CGI,Perl,PHP,Ruby that require programming knowledge and practice that are beyond the skill set of a lot of marketers. So unless you are into programing I would not worry about how to use these features.
The best thing to do is to pick one of these icons and just experiment with what you can do with the various tools offered. Just take your time and play with it.
The Software Services panel is pretty easy to deal with and you should find it a very useful tool for you to use.
I hope this has been helpful. If you want a closer look at the panel, check out this video.
Stay with it, stay well and May Your Travels Be Prosperous.
