Importing Videos or Photos To Imovie 11
Once you have a grasp of the interface which we got to see in the first iMovie video, it’s time to bring in some video or pictures to edit.
So how do you import videos to imovie 11?
Well, you want to make sure your videos are in the right format, whether it be MOV, AVI ,MP4 WMV MTS FLV VOB DVD.
To quote Apple: “You can import movie files into iMovie that are stored on your computer or a connected hard disk. These movie files can be in a number of formats, including MPEG-4 and standard (DV) file formats and some .mov file formats.”
If you are importing photos, the easiest way is to drag and drop from iPboto or select the file from you computer and upload from there.
I use QuickTime to convert video to a MOV file (MPEG4) and then I am ready to go.
You will want to start the process by creating an Event first. You do that by selecting the library tab and then hitting the command key and N or going to the dropdown in File and select create Evernt. Name that event what you want. And then go to the Create button at the top of the screen and click it.
A dropdown of the events will come up. You want to select the new Event you created. That defines where the import will go.
Now you are ready to import your videos and photos to iMovie 11.
Go to File and select the import dropdown and go to the area you have sourced your videos and photos to do your selection, Then click import.
As I mentioned, you can drag photos to the Event tab in the left hand sidebar. With the movies I go to the file or desk top and select the movie or movies I want and then Import.
The video shows you how to do it, so take a look and go from there.
