Website Tracking and Metrics
Website Analytics
The Guide presents five key tools to track website statistics and measuring how traffic finds your site.
In this post and video you will see what the first two tools are.
Metric Tool 1 – Search Engines
How Traffic Comes To Your Site
- Direct Traffic – User types in your url
- Referral Traffic – Traffic coming from links – email campaign,PPC or other branding method.
- Search Engine Results Page – Organic search results from user typing in keyword.
You need to know what percentage comes from these three sources. This will help you plan how to get traffic to your site.
Metric Tool 2 – Search Engine Percentage Benchmark
How does the search engine referral split look between Google,Yahoo and Bing.
Measure the specific share of each search engine against the benchmark percentage that comes from each search engine on a normal basis.
Those numbers will show you how you are doing against the traffic referral you should be getting from each engine.
The video below covers this material in greater detail so have a look and then use the tools to see how your site is doing.
That’s it. Stay with it, stay well and talk soon.
