To find independent merchants for a product you want to sell add the + sign in front of your Google search term. That will bring up sites in the search list pertaining to that specific term. For example to search for independent merchants for remote control airplane you would type +remote+control+airplane into the Google search box.

Online Home Based Business

Is A Home Based Business Right for You?

Are you thinking of starting a home based business on line? Attracted by all the claims of fortunes made?

Starting your own home business can bring a lot of benefits with it; being your own boss is one is one of them. Deciding when to work and when to play is another. And the upside in income is unlimited depending on how much time and effort you want to put in.

So where do you start?

1) Decide what really drives your interest and passion. It could be the experience and knowledge you have acquired from your current job. Stick with what you know; only this time you make all the revenue.

2) Develop a budget. It is going to take some investment to get started so do some research and develop with a plan with some numbers. How much can you afford and how much are you willing to invest? There are options that are free and may offer the prospect of starting with no investment. While they are helpful in learning some of the techniques of marketing a product online, they are not always very effective at driving revenue.

3) Join some online forums and just cruise to see what people are asking about and see what some of the answers are. They generally have sections for newbies and they are very helpful at teaching you what you should be looking for in setting up your affiliate marketing or Intenet business.

4) Set some goals for what you want to achieve with dates and benchmarks. What potential revenue targets can you set that are reasonable to achieve? Do some research on the market sector you have chosen. Again, here forums and blogs are a great source of information. Check out the sites of the star affiliate marketers in the product area you are interested in. Google the keywords and see who pops up.

5) Network with people who have already established a successful online venture and see if you can learn from their experiences. You are not alone in going through the experience of starting an Internet business and there are plenty of people who will help out if you ask.
6) Come up with a final business plan or action outline to carry out. Review it and make adjustments based on an assessment by an independent third party. Try coming up with a list of 3-4 products you would like to market.

Then the fun begins! Take action; get online and begin to set yourself up. Remember a plan has to be flexible. It will change and adjust as you make your way through the marketplace. It will time and persistence and some help along the way. Once again, forums are a great place to turn to for assistance.

Make sure you understand your online market and your customer. That will be vital to your success.

Good luck and may your travels be prosperous!

PPC Classroom Live – Howie Schwartz

PPC Classroom Live

Keyword Research and the Google Wonder Wheel

Howie Schwartz gave a really great presentation. No powerpoint, just pure Howie and live online demos of where to find great keyword ideas and research using Google free resources. He started by asking for a volunteer and a woman from Kansas who sells Geodeisic Dome Kits to build a dome home, steel and concrete, no composites, volunteered. She was great and discovered her website was in the number one position for her main keyword “dome home”. I think that was it. Anyway, Howie took her through organic search, suggested keywords at the bottom of the page and then to a new feature under the options tag on the upper left of the search page.

Under the options tag appear a number of tools you can select. One is called the Wonder Wheel. Select that and you get a return of all related keywords to the root keyword of the page. It is a great way to mine for ideas and is an indicator of what Google is telling you about your niche, your keywords and what you might do to optimize your site.

There were a number of those tools to go through and that is just what happened with two volunteers. The second volunteer had a RV lifestyle site.

Howie showed how you can harvest negative keywords to further target your campaign by going through the suggested keywords that were not relevant to your niche and building you list from that process. Checking videos on YouTube, reviews and relevant forums and blogs was part of the mix.

The main point of the exercise is to find a problem people want solved and then go about getting to the solution.

To test, you want to test 7-10 days using 300-500 keywords tracking exact match. A great way to find out what your customer wants is to have a survey that gives that customer the chance to tell you what they are looking for. Key is to give a test the time and getting enough data to determine if you have buyers not tire kickers.

Oh by the way, according to Howie, marketing online is like going to war. It is a war and there are no friends to be made when you are on the field. If it’s fun you want to have stay home and take up a hobby.

There is the long and short of it. If you want to find out more check Howie out, just google his name.

May Your Travels Be Prosperous.

PPC Classroom Live

City of Las Vegas
Image via Wikipedia

Just returned from PPC-Classroom Live in Las Vegas.  It was three days of presentations by the best in the business and gave those in attendance a chance to see what was available as far as marketing systems go.

The first day Anik and Amit gave a general overview of the program and tips on how to launch and test a campaign. It was very helpful to see that launching and testing was not only tough on the new marketer but can be just as trying for the veteran

Basically what came out of this was that launching is a numbers game. You have to launch multiple products to see which one will make a partial return or maybe break even before deciding what to drop and what to grow and scale.

The odds run at one out of every ten before something takes hold.  That means that you have to be persistent and clever in your research to make things work for you.  With that in mind it was left to the next day to see and hear from the line up how you could make things work in your favor.

The first up, Simon Leung, the wunderkind who developed the very Google AdWords gauntlet that all marketers go through. Stay tuned for that write up.

May Your Travels Be Prosperous.
